Bob Munro und die Gefahren für Whistleblower

Stealing money is simply wrong. The corruption is stealing the future of the sport and the dignity of Kenya as a country, and most important it is stealing the future from the Kenyan youth and their opportunity to get themselves out of powerty. Stealing their dreams is the worst crime of all, so the fight against corruption must be upheld.

Bob Munro

Thanks for your sympathetic and supportive messages.

I had to respond to the initial public attacks but, as Hatimy found to his dismay, it wasn’t a good idea to make such a shabby attack on me in the media. My friends in or near government are also discretely monitoring the situation for any signs that they might re-launch another deportation effort.

So, as the main facts are now on the public record, I am reverting back to some of the counter-intuitive lessons I learned during a decade of fighting for corruption-free football here.

As you are all so experienced in exposing and fighting corruption, I thought they might amuse you.

Some of those counter-intuitive lessons include:

  1. You are far more likely to be attacked for doing the right things than for doing the wrong things.
  2. You should regard such attacks as confirmation that you actually are doing the right things.
  3. You should treat such attacks as a compliment as they ignore incompetent or ineffective people.
  4. You should not try to discredit them as they are quite capable of doing that all by themselves.
  5. You should resist replying and making a 1-day story into a 3-day story as they crave publicity.
  6. You should judge success by the few enemies as well the many friends you make.
